Come join the Indiana Wildlife Federation for Monarch Tagging in the new Wild Birds Unlimited Native Pollinator Meadow at The Virginia B. Fairbanks Art and Nature Park at Newfields.
The Monarch Watch Tagging Program is a large-scale community science project that was initiated in 1992 to help understand the dynamics of the monarch’s spectacular fall migration through mark and recapture.
At this event, staff will train attendees to gently capture monarch butterflies in nets and affix a small numbered sticker to the hindwing. The international monarch monitoring program called Monarch Watch provides stickers and datasheets for this project.
