The River Assessment Field Teams (RAFTs) are individuals, family members, or small groups of friends, colleagues, or neighbors that are willing to donate time to help strategically assess local water quality. Data collected through this program will help agencies like the Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM), the Indiana Department of Natural Resources (IDNR), and county health departments fill in knowledge gaps and address concerns in water quality.
You do NOT need any sort of science degree or experience in water sampling! This is because all volunteers are required to complete our online, 10-module training course that will prepare you to be an educated volunteer that can produce quality work that will aid in local and state agency decision-making.
