Central Canal Towpath

Following the historic Central Canal, this 7.7 mile crushed limestone trail is popular for walking, biking, and cross-country skiing. It connects with the popular Monon Trail in Broad Ripple Village and the White River Greenway in Riverside Park, going through historic neighborhoods and destinations like Newfields and its Virginia B. Fairbanks Art & Nature Park,  and Butler University. While traveling along the tree-lined path you’ll likely encounter a variety of wildlife, from ducks and turtles to blue heron and geese.
