IndyShakes: Love’s Labor’s Lost

July 27, 2023 @ 8:00 pm 10:00 pm EDT

In this delightful comedy, Shakespeare explores the nature of romantic love, from shallow infatuation to deep and enduring love.

The story involves four young men from Navarre – the King of Navarre, Berowne, Longaville, and Dumaine – who vow to abstain from romantic relationships for three years while they dedicate themselves to their academic education. Their plans unwind when they meet four lively women from France – the Princess of France, Rosaline, Maria, and Katherine – who prove to be more than a match for the men in intellect and wit.

The play stresses the importance of honesty and communication in relationships, warning against deceit and manipulation. The characters learn the importance of treating each other with respect and kindness, setting aside their differences, and embracing the power of love.

Love’s Labour’s Lost is a witty and clever exploration of human relationships that reminds us that love can indeed conquer all.

The play is also just plain FUN!
